For many years — in fact, dating to, roughly, Jan. 30, 2000 — the NFL draft was my favorite day of the year. Overwrought Christmas metaphors aside, it represents hope and camaraderie, a time when all football fans can come together and wish one another luck, likely over a beer or several: Packers fans and Bears fans united in brotherhood.
